Rinjani is one of the most popular mountain in Indonesia. It's only 3.726 meters high, but this mountain offers you challenging trekking with so beautiful landscape.
Mt. Rinjani is located in Lombok Island. Lombok is somewhat similar in size and density, and shares some cultural heritage with the neighboring island of Bali to the west. That's why this island very popular for tourism (more than 3,5 millions on 2017).
To trekking to Rinjani there are two regular routes: Sembalun and Senaru, named by it last village. Sembalun is the shortest one, dominated with savanna. Senaru offers a nice jungle trekking, but it longer.
In Rinjani there is a crater lake named Sagara Anak (child of the sea) that formed during the explosive volcanic eruption of Mount Samalas in 1257. The lake temperature is 20–22 °C (68–72 °F), which is 5-7 °C (9-13 °F) higher than normal for a lake at its altitude (about 2.000 metres). Hot magma below the lake is responsible for this anomaly. Gas bubbles escape from the lake floor, helping the lake to have a pH of 7-8 (source: wikipedia). The beauty of this blue lake made it as a landmark of Mt. Rinjani.
