OVERVIEW
Everest Basecamp (EBC) trekking program was a combination between an adventure and a cultural tour in Himalaya Region. We will enjoy a beautiful scenery of Himalayan mountains and an epic culture of Nepalese people. We will also invite you to visit Buddhist historic sites around Kathmandu.
Beside trekking to EBC (5.364 m), we will aso trekking to Kallapathar (5.545 m) that popular as a best spot to see the Everest Summit. From here, the calendar picture of Everest taken.
From Kathmandu we'll fly to Lukla (2.860 m), the airport name was Tenzing-Hillary, name of two legendary climbers that summit to Everest for the first time on May 29 1953.
From Lukla we'll walk for seven days until we reach EBC. Don't be worry about your stuffs, it will carry by a strong porters.
A long the way we'll pass a lot of village wich is very unique and beautiful, and overnight at the lodge. We'll go up slowly each day, no need to be hurry.
From EBC we just need 3 days to go back to Lukla.
ITINERARY
Day 1 : Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.
Our guide will pick you up at airport and transfer you to hotel. We can walk around Thamel if you need to rent or buy some equipment.
Day 2 : Kathmandu – Lukla (2.860 m) – Phakding (2.652 m)
We must be ready at dawn, go to the airport and fly to Lukla. In Lukla we'll meet our porters and they start to bring our luggage from here. We will have breakfast in small restaurant before we start walking for about 3 hours to Phakding. The route is following Dud Koshi River, and we can see Nupla peak (5.885 m) and Kusum Kang peak (6.367 m) a long the way. We'll have a break for lunch at Ghat tea house.
Day 3 : Phakding – Namche Bazar (3.440 m)
Trekking to Namche takes about 5 hours. We'll walk follow the river , passing a zig zag steep path, crossing a wood bridge and entering a pine forest. We'll stop at the National Park Service to buy a permit.
At noon we stop at rest area wich popular because you can see Everest and Lhotse summit from it.
Day 4 : Namche Bazar, acclimatize to Khumjung
Today we'll have easy walk for acclimatize. We'll walk to Khumjung, visiting the monastry. Khumjung is Sherpa village.The scenery here is magnificent. We can see Mount Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse Lhotse and many more mountain.
We'll have lunch there, and go back to Namche.
Day 5 : Namche Bazar – Tyangboche (3.850 m)
Trekking Tyangboche will takes about 6 hours. First we'll pass a steep part. But the scenery just getting better. We'll see Mount Ama Dablam, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Tawoche.
Tyangboche or Tengboche is considered as the holy village of Khumbu Region because of its unique location and open view in all directions but there is also a large Monastery built in 1916 by the Lama (religious leaders).
Day 6 : Tyangboche – Dingboche (4.250 m)
Today we will pass through an area overgrown with rhododendrons, following the Imja Khola river and across the rock walls. It takes about 5 hours walk to Dingboche.
Dingboche is a beautiful village. There are fields of barley, wheat and potatoes, surrounded by stone walls to protect it from wind and wild animals.
Day 7 : Dingboche – Lobuche (4.910 m)
Trekking to Lobuche takes about 6 hours. We can enjoy the mountain scenery.Tawache, Ama Dablam, Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Mount Nuptse.
We'll take a lunch break at Thukla and then continue the journey for an hour through the steep path to the top of a hill. Here we'll see a lot pile of rocks that serve as a memorial monument to the climbers who have been killed on Everest.
We'll have another 30 minutes before we arrive at our lodge in Lobuche.
Day 8 : Lobuche – Gorakshep – Everest Basecamp – Gorakshep
Today we'll cross the valley, following the rocky path in the Khumbu Glacier.
About 3 hours walking, we will arrive at Gorakshep, which is located in a wide valley below Kalapatthar and Pumori. In the past, Gorakshep was the location of Everest Base Camp.
After lunch at Gorakshep we continue walk to EBC.
Trekking to EBC is not difficult. The path is sloping and only takes about 2,5 hours. We will enjoy the atmosphere at Everest Basecamp and see the largest camp in the world that houses more than 2,000 climbers each year. We will see how climbers from around the world prepare themselves for this highest peak.
From EBC, we go back to Gorakshep, takes about 1 hour.
Day 9 : Gorakshep – Kallapathar - Periche (4.240 m)
At 4.00 AM, we try to climb to the top of Kalapatthar. It takes about 2 hours to go up. The climb to the peak is worth it with some of the best views of the trip right in front of you. You'll get a true sense of the elevation, with a view across the Himalayas that is breathe taking. As the sun rises from behind the few mountains that still tower over the rest, it's truly an awesome experience and hard to describe.
After few moment at the Kallapathar Peak, we go back down to Gorakshep and have a breakfast there. After, we continue walk for about 7 hours until Periche. The hike into Pheriche was pretty flat heading steadily down hill for the most part. The last part of the day we followed the valley floor following local tracks beside streams formed by the melting ice of the mountains.
Day 10 : Periche – Namche Bazar (3.440 m)
We had a long day planned today with 7-8 hours of trekking to reach Namche. This was a distance that we had covered in 2 days on the way up to EBC, but it’s much easier to descend as you don’t have to worry about acclimatisation.
We set out from Pheriche at 8am with the aim to reach Namche by 3:30pm-4pm. Even though we were descending we still had quite a few uphill sections.
Day 11 : Namche Bazar – Lukla (2.860 m)
On the last day of trekking, we will return to Lukla, with takes about 6 hours walk.
Day 12 : Lukla – Kathmandu
We'll try to get an early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. You need to know, Lukla is an airport located in the mountains. When the weather is bad, no flights can come or go. In that case, we need to add an extra days that cost you more for lodge and food (force majeur).
Day 13 : City Tour Kathmandu
We'll spend the last day in Nepal by going around the city. Take a walk looking at traditional Nepalese life while looking for souvenirs. We'll also visit the Boudhanat, one of the largest stupas in the world.
Day 14 : Leaving Kathmandu
We will transfer you back to airport. End of program.
